It’s been a while since I’ve done some proper haulin’ in the realm of Korean beauty, and with the sales kicking in at the beginning of July I decided that it was a great time to snap up some things I needed to restock, and try some new pieces. There’s a bit of everything here, hair care, skincare, and makeup; some favourites, some things that are completely new to me, and some bits that are raved about in the Korean beauty circles that I’ll give you my thoughts on as and when I try them!
I got all these bits from RoseRoseShop, they’re one of my favourite places to shop Korean cosmetics from, as they ship internationally with really good rates, and true to Korean stock prices. Which, as you all know, is majorly important to me. I refuse to support brands that drastically increase the prices of accessible cosmetics.
I got two items from Nature Republic. They’re a brilliant brand that focuses on bringing nature into skin/beauty products, using those natural ingredients from all over the world to infuse into their lines.
The Argan Essential Deep Care Hair Pack is one of my favourite hair care products. It’s been a staple in my shower caddy since I discovered it in Korea, which also means it’s a pretty long standing product in their line up. It’s Argan oil concentration is pretty damned high, and it’s billed to repair severely damaged hair (or very dry hair). The tub you get is 200ml which is quite hefty to be honest. Full review and list of reasons why this is such a favourite to come soon!
I also decided to have a go with some individual lashes from Nature Republic’s beauty tool range. They’re the Individual Lashes in number 04, 8mm, glue included. I’ve never got on very well with strip lashes (even the tips and tricks leave me a little bit muddled and a lot frustrated) so I thought I might have more luck with applying individuals. We’ll see how this goes. Nature Republic do a few different strip lash sets too, all quite natural and quite wispy for maximum blending into your natural lashes.
I also got two items from current trending fave TonyMoly. They’re mostly known for having ridiculously cute packaging, and making strides in the West with their sheetmask range. Their brand concept is street culture, centering around the enjoyment of an urban beauty lifestyle.
The first item I got is another longstanding item in TonyMoly’s product range, the Panda’s Dream Brightening Eye Base. It’s something that I’ve wanted to try in the past but never really had the inclination to, despite some pretty hefty under-eye baggage. It aims to cover and brighten the undereye area, and works in tandem with its twin product, the Panda’s Dream Cooling Eye Stick which I also have my eye on. I’ll be interested to see how I get on with this, as when I initially saw this range launch in Korea, I scoffed at it slightly. But a lot of the Korean beauty bloggers love the Panda range (it all aims to reduce under-eye ailments).
The second item is the Magic Food Choco Mushroom Cream Pore Pack, one in a range of three little mushroom shaped skincare products (strawberry sugar scrub and a golden mushroom sleeping pack). It does smell of chocolate – but that M&M store kind of chocolate – and aims to clean out your pores during the 15 minutes you keep it on your skin. It’s billed for all skin types, so should be interesting to try.
I do go through sheetmasks quite quickly. I LOVE THEM, in case you weren’t aware. And also explained a little about why you should incorporate them into your skincare routine.
I decided to get 4 different types this time. Two are from Skin79, which is a skin-first Korean cosmetic brand, so really does very well in the skincare arena. I decided to get the Tea Tree and Honey variety of their Fresh Garden Mask range, which feature cotton sheets soaked in their signature 10,000ppm essence. I’ve been going through a bit of a rocky skin patch at the moment, and Honey and Tea Tree are great for helping my face out when it gets a bit dicey blemish wise, so these were a natural choice.
Three are from The Face Shop’s Real Nature range in the Olive variety. Again, choosing sheetmasks that are good for cleansing and clarification of the skin. I got these in a trio, as RoseRoseShop gives that option.
I also decided to get a box, an actual 10 pack box of character sheetmasks from Milatte in their pomegranate flavour. I missed the character trend when I was in Korea, and have let it sit for a while before actually deciding that I would get on that because why the hell not. Milatte is a new brand to me so I thought I’d play it safe and start with sheetmasks.
Another product that is absolutely raved about in Korean Beauty circles is the SkinFood Salmon dark circle concealer cream. It’s touted as a dupe for some high end western brand concealers, such as Bobbi Brown’s creamy concealer and Benefit’s Bo-ing, at a much lower price point. Seriously this retails at 8000won (or £5.53 ish). I’ve been looking for a pink toned concealer for a while now and this one is consistently recommended to me so I thought I might as well. Picked it up in the first shade, ‘Salmon Blooming’ (the second is ‘Salmon Beige’), and despite its slightly dark appearance in pan, my first impressions so far are that it blends, matches and covers very well. Salmon isn’t indicative of the colour, by the way, it’s because the concealer contains salmon oil as an ingredient!
The second makeup item is a white eyeliner from another new brand to me, Ri_Re. It’s from their Luxe Gel eyeliner range, in the shade ‘white pearl’. I’m horrific at sharpening pencil liners so tend to prefer those that are screw-up (rotating? How are we describing these?) from the base instead of actual wood with a core, and this is one of those. Pearl in Korean cosmetics means shimmer, by the way, so this is a shimmer shade, perfect for that inner corner highlight.
And that is everything! All of this cost me about £35 including shipping which is an absolute steal, really, so I’m incredibly pleased right now! As I said earlier I’ll be doing reviews of each product as and when I get to them, but let me know which item you’re most interested in hearing about and I’ll make them priorities!
Also tell me which you think of this haul! 🙂
