It is officially summer, so I can talk about sunglasses. And how I have been bitten with the collecting bug of shiny ocular instruments. The weather might not let me wear them for a full day without the need for also taking an umbrella, but they are definitely out daily. Finally.
Not sure if 6 pairs counts as a 'collection' (correct me if you want) but I thought I'd share what I have at the minute and talk about where each of the pairs come from. So if you're wanting to pick up some new shades this summer to protect your lil eyes then~
The massive trend that doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. Recently, metallic shades with thin or rimless frames have become the rage, with rose gold fronting the way. Dior has the original, mirrored pink-shiny (I24TE if you were wondering), but there are lots of dupes on the market now.
I picked my rose gold pair up from aliexpress, purely because I wasn't sure if I was going to wear these often, they're quite mirrored, and smaller than the usual frames that I'd wear. However they've quickly become something that I reach for often as they're one of those pairs that make me feel like a boss ass b*tch, Heads turn. Statement made. Get yourself a pair of these.
The gold lens and black cat eye pair are called Galodia, they're from Aldo* though I shopped them through Octer- which I'm doing a full post on later this week. They're fab aren't they? Size-wise they're a lot bigger than I thought they'd be, similar dimensions to the white cat-eye pair which are my largest sunglasses to date, so that was a bit of a surprise. I love them though. Am absolutely 210% in love I want to wear them all the time.
The blue mirror pair* are from Firmoo - full review of that trend crush - and again they're slightly larger than I was expecting... they take up a large proportion of my face. But they're fab, again. They're the pair that's easiest to see through, as they don't really darken or tint the world when they're on - so proper polarisation there. They're coming with me to Austria for definite, as they're also incredibly light weight.
The sliiightly novelty cat-eye pair I got for the AW15 London Fashion Week season, and I haven't worn them much since other than for shoots or specific outfits. They're definitely a pair I love even though I don't get them out as often as I'd like, as they're fun and quirky. I've seen a lot of the Korean models posing with pairs like these on insta and I know that influenced my original purchase, but hey. They're from eBay so it wasn't a massive amount of cash spent (under £5), so it's not like I dropped a large amount of money.
The pink pair I also picked up from eBay, as I had a pair similar to these in Korea when I was there, but they (along with a really pretty forever21 pair) never made it home somehow. I loved the metallic nose bridge and little arrows where the arms fix to the frames, and these being pink means that I can wear monochromatic outfits and still have some sort of colour present in there without too much thought or planning.
The silver browed pair are from Asos, and was probably the pair that sparked the collecting to be honest. They're the oldest pair of these 6, and I was initially drawn to the built-up brow in the description. I do love a good high-browed cat-eye - as is evidenced with most of these - and despite the way these photograph they're actually quite sizeable themselves.
